A Bardic Journey

through the Heart of Scotland

22nd-30th Sept 2007

(9 days / 8 nights)

Itinerary

Day 1 - Sat 22nd Sept

Collection from Edinburgh airport for two nights stay in Edinburgh. Free afternoon for resting or sightseeing.

Early evening orientation meeting and opening the circle before dinner (included).

Day 2 - Sun 23rd Sept

Visits to Rosslyn chapel, the now famous heritage of the Knights Templar, and Temple church nearby. Information learned here will help guide us on our journey.

Day 3 - Mon 24th Sept

Drive to Ballater, Aberdeenshire for a two night stay. From here we will visit some of the many ancient sacred sites which are so plentiful in this area, including a visit to Tarland stone circle. This power-spot is a recumbent stone circle that is prominently situated with a 360-degree panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. We have truly arrived in the Celtic world.

Day 4 - Tues 25th Sept

Stone circle visit and Burn O'Vat - a rocky cauldron carved out by the river waters. We learn of the importance and power of water at this site revered by countless generations.

Day 5 - Weds 26th Sept

Drive to our hotel in Aberfeldy in the Central Highlands for a four-night stay.

The Fortingall Yew is believed to be the oldest tree in Europe at 5,000 years old. It is the entrance into the magical valley of Glen Lyon and provides us with a living connection to the ancient wisdom of this land, because this tree started its life when the stone circles were being built.

We are treated to a bardic evening of Celtic stories and Gallic songs from the druidic spiritual tradition of the culdees with Fionn Tulach.

Day 6 - Thurs 27th Sept

Today we venture further into the sacred valley of Glen Lyon to explore some of the most potent sacred sites with local expert, guide and author Barry Dunford.

Day 7 - Fri 28th Sept

Optional Pilgrimage walk to Calliach Stones (representing the Celtic goddess presiding over the landscape) or local walks which are less strenuous.

An evening of music led by Gabriella.

Day 8 - Sat 29th Sept

Today is Michaelmas, the feast day of St. Michael who is guardian over the energy pathways of the land we have been connecting with.

Morning visit to a local site. Afternoon review and processing of our journey. Farewell dinner (included).

Day 9 - Sun 30th Sept

Drive to Edinburgh airport for return flights home. Bon Voyage...
